ServiceNow CMDB Consultant – Expert Level

Job Overview

We are seeking an expert-level ServiceNow CMDB Consultant to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within the ServiceNow platform. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in CMDB architecture, discovery tools, service mapping, and ITIL processes, along with strong experience in data governance, accuracy, and automation to ensure operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage CMDB architecture aligned with ITIL best practices.
• Lead the end-to-end CMDB strategy, including Discovery, Service Mapping, Integrations, and Data Normalization.
• Define and enforce Configuration Item (CI) classification, relationships, and lifecycle management.
• Assess and remediate CMDB data gaps, duplication, and compliance issues.
• Build and maintain CMDB dashboards, reports, health scorecards, and governance frameworks.
• Collaborate with ITSM, ITOM, Security, Cloud, and Infrastructure teams to ensure consistent CI data usage across business processes.
• Implement automation scripts, workflows, and policies to enhance CMDB accuracy and efficiency.
• Conduct CMDB audits, maturity assessments, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership, best practice guidance, and training to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, and Service Mapping.
• Strong knowledge of ITIL v3/v4 principles, particularly Configuration and Change Management.
• Expertise in CI class modeling, relationship mapping, and reconciliation rules.
• Experience integrating CMDB with ITSM, ITOM, Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Monitoring Tools, SCCM, and other enterprise systems.
• Proficiency in ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript), Flow Designer, MID Servers, and API integrations.
• Hands-on experience with CMDB Health Dashboard, Dependency Views, and Identification/Reconciliation Rules.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
• ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – CMDB / Discovery / ITOM preferred.
